The Grapes of Destiny was a two-week comedy sketch series that aired on the Kidd Kraddick in the Morning syndicated radio show.
The show is a broad spoof of soap operas, and follows the adventures of Destiny Kensington-Smith, former supermodel and founder of the Grapes of Destiny, a boutique winery in Napa.
Bitsy Kensington-Smith is her daughter, from her first marriage to famed criminal attorney and moose hunter, Brock Kensington-Smith.
Destiny also has a son, Lorenzo, the product of a passionate affair with an Italian gardener, who did things with grapes that you can only imagine. Lorenzo is married to Phoxie, a former street surgeon, and the mother of his twins, currently named Blueberry and Raspberry. At least one of them is definitely fathered by Lorenzo, anyway.
Destiny’s rival is Smilin’ Joe, owner of Smilin’ Joe’s Wine -in-a-Can (available at a gas station near you, and official sponsor of women’s full contact roller derby).
In “season one” Smilin’ Joe successfully wages a campaign to take over the winery, and in “season two” Destiny reclaims her company, but at a terrible cost.
